Polish Pottery comes in varying levels of Artistry. Starting with the traditional old world pattern of the Peacock, reaching up to the highest standards of Signature Art Unikat. Each level carries a unique history and a beauty all its own.

TRADITIONAL:  One of the earliest patterns was created for Frederick the Great, King of Prussia in the 1700's. This "Peacock" pattern was a symbol of royalty and lower class citizens were forbidden from the use of the pottery. As history changed, so did the patterns. First changes were made to the traditional old world decor, often called "updated", creating the ability to mix and match pieces. The patterns grew more elaborate and decorated, which eventually brought on an art movement. From this movement came "Unikat" and Signature Art patterns.

"UNIKAT", meaning UNIQUE in Polish, is any pattern of unique or elaborate design created by highly accomplished craftsman.

"SIGNATURE ART" is the highest form of Unikat pottery and carries the signature of the Master Artisan along with the Unikat marking. Due to the time involved in making each piece, the supply is very limited. As all pieces are hand-crafted, each will vary in design, pattern and color.
